“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” -Marcel Proust
“Katharine is empathetic, wise, and an exceptionally good listener. After just two coaching sessions with her I was able to set new goals and habits for myself, which totally transformed that period of my life. She helped me feel empowered to make good choices for myself and hold myself accountable. Katharine is an expert at helping people face challenges and reach their potential!”

My background
I grew up in South Africa and Argentina, went to college for my undergraduate degree in England and then came to the United States for my graduate degrees. I have spent most of the past three decades in the U.S. I am married with three adult children and a black Labrador, whom I recently trained to volunteer as a therapy dog.
My professional experience
Much of my adult life has been one of adapting to changing situations and geographical moves, which have challenged me to find new career opportunities while juggling family needs. I have worked in numerous roles as a teacher, administrator, researcher, and professor. I have a Ph.D. in Education, a Masters in Human Development and Family Studies, a B.A. in Psychology, and I am a Board Certified Coach (BCC).
Among other positions, I have been an ethnographer for the National Child Development Program, a teacher-trainer for the Denver Public Schools, an Examiner in Psychology for the International Baccalaureate Program, and a Visiting Professor of Education at Dartmouth College. I also served as the Director of Community and Global Citizenship at Albuquerque Academy, designing a “Commitment to Service” curriculum that is still used to this day. Another family move led me to become the first Manager of International Students at Interlochen Arts Academy, helping students and families from dozens of countries adapt to U.S. culture and make the most of educational opportunities. Most recently, I was the Senior Research Associate for Dr. Rocco Marotta, a celebrated and highly sought-after psychiatrist at Silver Hill Hospital. Following up on this research role I am a collaborating author for an upcoming book, Lives Reimagined: Changing the Course of Psychotic Illness. This book was written to bring hope and guidance to those struggling with these kinds of illnesses, and to share lessons learned from a master healer and his team.
Just like yours, my story exists far beyond the confines of anything I have described above. The past does not have to define us. What matters is how we re-frame and translate our stories to support our current reality. The coaching journey is about facing forward. Coaching is about imagining what is possible; it is about exploration and discovery.
